Hybrid Double Decker Bus Service
LAHORE;
The much discussed double-decker bus service has remained hallmark of Lahore for many years after its realization aimed to promoted tourism and offered the people the best and quite different way of travelling in the city.
These buses provide passengers beautiful sight seeing views of Lahore’s most popular attractions turning transportation into tourism; and giving each bus stop along the route its own unique character.
In the first phase of new roll out, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated five hybrid double-decker buses. The platforms of this friendly environment project are to showcase the Lahore Cultural Trails which will start from the Gaddafi Stadium and cover the Walled City of Lahore, Fort Road Food Street, and the Punjab Stadium.
Each bus measures designed to contain 66 passengers, 48 of these seated on the upper level while the other 18 are seated at the lower level. This service started back in November, 2015 by the then Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif to provide an ‘enhanced’ way of visiting the tourist points of various cities.
The double-decker service that has been adopted in Lahore successfully is to be introduced in other cities in Punjab province, such as Bahawalpur,Rawalpindi and Multan. Further extensions are being planned for Multan and Faisalabad as well.
The objective of embarking on this plan is not only to increase tourist attractiveness but also to promote Punjab prominent culture and natural balance.
